This followed an official request by Gwangju Mayor Lee Yong-seop to Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun during the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters meeting on the 22nd for personnel dispatch due to a shortage of nursing staff at 'Bitgoeul Jeonnam National University Hospital,' the dedicated COVID-19 hospital in the Gwangju area.
Daegu City stated that this was a small token of gratitude to Gwangju, which actively supported and encouraged Daegu during the COVID-19 outbreak in March. Since forming the 'Dalbit Alliance' in 2013 to promote harmony and mutual development between Yeongnam and Honam regions, Daegu and Gwangju have continued exchanges and cooperation in various fields.
