Next Year's Health Insurance Premium Rate to Increase by 2.89%... Employees to Pay 3,399 KRW More per Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Next year, the health insurance premium rate will increase by 2.89%. Office workers will bear an additional average monthly cost of about 3,400 won.
On the 28th, the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that it held the Health Insurance Policy Deliberation Committee (Geonjeongsim), the highest decision-making body for health insurance policy, the day before and decided to raise the 2021 health insurance premium rate accordingly. The increase rate is lower than this year's 3.20%.
Accordingly, the insurance premium rate for workplace subscribers will rise from the current 6.67% to 6.86%, and the amount per point for regional subscribers will increase from 195.8 won to 201.5 won.
The average monthly insurance premium burden for workplace subscribers will increase by 3,399 won from 119,328 won this year to 122,727 won next year. The average monthly insurance premium per household for regional subscribers will increase by 2,756 won from the current 94,666 won to 97,422 won next year.
