Kim Ji-seop, Mercedes-Benz Korea CEO, "Feeling a heavy responsibility... Will uphold corporate philosophy"
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Kim Jiseop, Acting CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea, emphasized on the 27th during an online Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) family unveiling event, "We will continue to uphold our corporate philosophy of only creating the best and do our utmost."
This online event was the first official event since he assumed the role of Acting CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea. Making his debut in an official capacity as CEO, Kim briefly introduced his background and touched on the future direction of Mercedes-Benz Korea's domestic business.
Kim began by saying, "Personally, I am honored and pleased to represent the company I joined as a new employee, but I also feel a heavy responsibility in taking on this important role during a critical time." He added, "Since I started concurrently serving as Acting CEO in August, through communication with employees, I have realized the great expectations placed on me, which makes my shoulders heavier."
He explained, "Since the establishment of Mercedes-Benz Korea in 2002, the 'customer' has always been at the center of our business. As a corporate citizen, we have fulfilled our social responsibilities and made special efforts in social contributions, while striving to provide the best products and service experiences."
Since joining Mercedes-Benz Korea as a new employee in 2002, Kim has built experience over 18 years in various fields including sales, marketing, product strategy, planning, and customer service. In 2015, he was promoted to Vice President and took charge of the customer service division. Since August of this year, he has concurrently served as Acting CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea.

Previously, Mercedes-Benz appointed Bj?rn Hauber, CEO of the Sweden and Denmark subsidiaries, as the new CEO of the Korean subsidiary, but due to personal reasons including the COVID-19 pandemic, the appointment was abruptly canceled. Since then, Acting CEO Kim has filled the CEO vacancy at Mercedes-Benz Korea, with no decisions yet made regarding the term or successor.
