582 Billion Won Increase Compared to the 2nd Supplementary Budget
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jaehee] Gimje City, Jeonbuk, has entered the era of a 1 trillion won supplementary budget to respond to COVID-19 and implement the Korean-style New Deal projects.
On the 25th, the city announced that on the 26th, it prepared the third supplementary budget for this year amounting to 1.0129 trillion won, an increase of 58.2 billion won from the second supplementary budget of 954.6 billion won.
The general account is 939.5 billion won (an increase of 55.7 billion won, 6.30%), and the special account is 73.5 billion won (an increase of 2.6 billion won, 3.73%), with funds allocated focusing on COVID-19 response, Korean-style New Deal projects, and disaster recovery efforts.
To revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19, the city allocated 2.4 billion won for issuing Gimje Love Gift Certificates, 1.7 billion won for the Hope Job Project, and 1.1 billion won for quarantine measures (such as purchasing a non-face-to-face facial recognition fever check system).
Additionally, a total budget of 2 billion won was allocated for rapid disaster recovery and prevention from unpredictable natural disasters, with detailed projects including 1 billion won for the construction of the Baekgu Masan drainage pump station and 500 million won for establishing an early warning system in flood-prone areas.
Furthermore, related to the government’s New Deal policy and projects feasible within the year under the ‘Gimje-type New Deal,’ there are 1.2 billion won for building a smart city integrated platform, 1.8 billion won for supporting the purchase of electric cargo vehicles and electric excavators, and 400 million won for ICT-based senior health management projects.
As essential current projects, the budget includes 38.2 billion won for basic public direct payments, 2.6 billion won for the creation of Seonam Natural Recreation Forest, and 2.1 billion won for establishing a youth management practice farm.
The budget prepared this time will be finalized on the 10th of next month after approval by the Gimje City Council.
