Pohang City Expands Support for Daily Worker Wages in SMEs to Include Retail and Academies
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Pohang City, Gyeongbuk announced on the 24th that it will expand the target industries for the 'Small and Medium Enterprise Daily Worker Wage Support Project' in consideration of the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Wholesale and retail industries (excluding liquor and tobacco businesses) and general academy industries, which were previously excluded from support, will be added to support companies experiencing management difficulties due to COVID-19.
Since June, Pohang City has been the first in the nation to implement the 'Small and Medium Enterprise Daily Worker Wage Support Project,' which supports 70% of daily worker wages when small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies in the area newly hire daily workers to carry out various projects.
Based on the sales amount per company, up to KRW 84,000 per day per worker is supported within a limit of KRW 100 million. The daily worker must have a registered address in Pohang City as of the employment date. Foreign workers are excluded.
The support targets small and medium-sized and mid-sized enterprises located in Pohang City that newly hire daily workers to carry out various new or expansion and facility renovation projects, environmental maintenance projects, or simple labor projects such as various work assistance, and directly perform or commission the projects.
