'Quantum Information Communication Hub' Quantum Information Week from 25th to 28th
[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] The government has established Quantum Information Week to build a foundation in the field of quantum information, which can be utilized in ultra-high-speed computation (quantum computing), transmission of unclonable information (quantum cryptography communication), and ultra-precise signal measurement (quantum sensing).
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 24th that from the 25th to the 28th of this month, various events will be held to serve as a communication platform for quantum information in the Republic of Korea.
Quantum information is a technology that applies quantum physical properties (such as superposition, uncertainty, and entanglement), which are natural phenomena in the ultra-microscopic domain, to information processing.
On the 25th, the Quantum Information Academic Conference 2020, sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT and hosted by the Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Division of the Korean Optical Society, will be held online. Researchers will present the latest research trends and their own research achievements in various fields such as quantum computing, quantum cryptography communication, and quantum sensing. All presentations and events will be conducted online (via Zoom), and anyone can participate by pre-registering on the Korean Optical Society website.
On the 26th and 27th, the 'International Conference on Quantum Computing 2020 (ICQC2020),' hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the Quantum Information Science and Technology Research Association, will be held online. This event will feature three leading international scholars in quantum computing research, including Professor John Martinis, who led Google's achievement of quantum supremacy last year, Professor Rainer Blatt, and Dr. Steven Jordan, sharing their latest research results. All events will be streamed on YouTube, and anyone can participate by pre-registering on the Quantum Information Science and Technology Research Association website.
On the 28th, the 'Quantum Information Research Support Center,' which will be responsible for and carry out the overall 'Quantum Information Science R&D Ecosystem Creation' project, will be inaugurated.
