"Democratic Party Deliberately Removed 'God' from Pledge of Allegiance"... Trump Criticizes Ahead of Convention
"Biden Faces Fierce Criticism for Skipping Milwaukee, Host of the Convention"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunwoo Lee] U.S. President Donald Trump launched a full-scale attack on the Democratic Party ahead of next week's Republican National Convention. He criticized the Democrats for deliberately omitting the word 'God' from the Pledge of Allegiance at their convention, aiming to stir voter sentiment.
According to foreign media including CNN, on the 22nd (local time), President Donald Trump referred to the Democratic National Convention held from the 17th to the 20th in a tweet, stating, "At the convention, the Democrats removed the word 'God' from the Pledge of Allegiance." He added, "At first, I thought it was a mistake, but it was not. They did it deliberately." He then urged, "Christian evangelicals, and everyone, remember this," encouraging them to vote on November 3rd. Christian evangelicals in the U.S. are traditionally considered a core Republican support base.
In another tweet, he mentioned cities led by Democratic officials, saying that despite rampant crime, they do not seek federal assistance, and questioned, "Why would suburban women vote for Biden and the Democrats when cities run by Democrats are plagued by crime that can easily spread to the suburbs?" Suburban voters tend to lean moderate and are considered one of the key swing voter groups in the presidential election.
President Trump also criticized Democratic presidential candidate former Vice President Joe Biden and other Democrats for not visiting Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the originally planned site of the convention. Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Democrats held the convention virtually. Biden also participated via a virtual connection from near his home in Wilmington, Delaware. Trump tweeted, "Biden and the Democrats completely disrespected Wisconsin by not visiting Milwaukee, the site of the Democratic convention," and urged, "Vote for Trump, Wisconsin."
