Andong City, Hahoe Village Preservation Society Postpones 'Baekjung·Putgut' Seasonal Customs Event
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Andong City in Gyeongbuk Province has temporarily postponed the 'Baekjung·Putgut' seasonal customs event, which was scheduled to be held by the Hahoe Village Preservation Society on the 25th, considering the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
As a custom on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month (Baekjung), each household picks ripe fruits to offer to their ancestors, and farming households prepare and share various foods and drinks so that workers can rest. Putgut is a seasonal custom where village-level communal events are held around Baekjung, which can be considered a resting period in the annual crop cultivation activities.
