Gangnam-gu Nonhyeon-dong Resident Tests Positive for COVID-19 After Participating in Gwanghwamun Rally
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] On the 20th, two new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Gangnam-gu.
Including one additional case reported late the previous afternoon, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Gangnam-gu reached 127.
First, a resident of Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, who attended the Gwanghwamun rally on the 15th, underwent a specimen test at the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center after experiencing symptoms such as coughing and was confirmed positive that morning.
A resident of Yeoksam-dong tested positive that morning at the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center after contact with a confirmed case from another region.
Additionally, a resident of Gaepo-dong was confirmed positive the previous afternoon at Gangnam Severance Hospital after experiencing symptoms such as muscle pain and undergoing a specimen test.
Gangnam-gu is conducting disinfection around the residences and movement paths of the confirmed cases and is carrying out a detailed epidemiological investigation to identify contacts.
Meanwhile, Gangnam-gu notified the relevant local government of one confirmed case from Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, who tested positive at the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center that day.
Furthermore, Gangnam-gu confirmed that a nursing assistant working at an obstetrics and gynecology clinic located in Nonhyeon-dong, who is a resident of Dongjak-gu, tested positive the previous day. After a joint investigation with Seoul epidemiologists, 22 people, including 16 staff members who had contact with the confirmed case and 6 pregnant women, were placed under self-quarantine.
