Hamyang-gun Strengthens Quarantine Measures Amid COVID-19 Resurgence
Establishment of a Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters-Centered Quarantine System and Promotion of Hygiene Rules
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is maintaining strict and proactive quarantine measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the local community, as the novel coronavirus infection rapidly spreads mainly in the metropolitan area.
According to the county, since the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Korea on January 18, seven months have passed, and through active response, they have maintained "Clean Hamyang" without any confirmed cases in the local community.
Recently, as signs of re-spread have appeared mainly in the metropolitan area, the county is tightening the relaxed quarantine system centered on the Hamyang-gun Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and thoroughly promoting personal quarantine hygiene rules.
In particular, proactive measures for residents who participated in the August 15 rally at Gwanghwamun, Seoul, received positive responses from the residents.
On that day, passengers arriving in Hamyang from Seoul in the afternoon were guided to the public health center screening clinic for COVID-19 testing and epidemiological investigation, and all 29 rally participants tested negative, contributing to preventing the spread in the local community.
Subsequently, they conducted testing and movement exposure management for participants of the August rallies in the metropolitan area (including testing), encouraged voluntary participation such as reducing religious group worship, refraining from small gatherings, banning meals, guiding quarantine rules at heatwave shelters, and reviewed various events to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the local community.
During the vacation season, they are promoting prevention measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 along with guidance and inspection for the safe water play of tourists visiting Hamyang.
At the same time, they decided to strengthen management of high-risk facilities and multi-use facilities.
Seo Chun-soo, Hamyang County Governor, said, "We will block the spread of COVID-19 infection through thorough quarantine and proactive response and prioritize protecting the health and safety of residents," and added, "I once again ask all residents to strictly follow quarantine rules to overcome the crisis again."
