'Sangju City, the "Dementia Safety No.1 Zone," Trains 314 "Dementia Supporters" ... Additional Recruitment'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Sangju City in Gyeongbuk announced on the 20th that the Public Health Center's Dementia Safety Center is recruiting additional 'Dementia Supporters' who will take the lead in activities supporting patients and their families.
This year, Sangju City's goal for training dementia supporters is 297 people, but currently, 314 people have completed the training, showing high public interest. Accordingly, Sangju City explained that the additional recruitment is intended to allow more citizens to receive the training.
Dementia supporters can be anyone from elementary school students and above. Applicants can complete the training by signing up as members on the 'Dementia Partner' website and watching the video.
One supporter who is caring for a mother-in-law with dementia said, "Dementia is not someone else's issue; it can happen to anyone, and I hope the entire local community develops an awareness that dementia elderly and their families should be cared for with love and attention."
