KAI to Supply 2 Additional Chamsuri Helicopters to National Police Agency Equipped with Emergency Medical Equipment
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) announced on the 19th that it signed a contract with the Public Procurement Service on the 18th to supply two Chamsuri (KUH-1P) helicopters for 47.1 billion KRW. With this, the total number of Chamsuri helicopters owned by the National Police Agency has increased to 10.
The Chamsuri is a helicopter developed and modified based on the domestically produced Surion helicopter, tailored for police missions such as integrated defense, counterterrorism, and traffic management. It is equipped with an aerial video wireless transmission device, an electro-optical infrared camera, and a searchlight, enabling real-time on-site confirmation and command control.
Notably, the newly contracted Chamsuri helicopters are equipped with emergency medical equipment (EMS Kit) including an oxygen supply system and a ventricular defibrillator, as well as an air conditioning system for patient transport during heatwaves. According to the company, this expands the scope of police missions to include rapid emergency patient transport in urgent situations.
