Andong-si Postpones Grand Fondo, the Great Festival for Bicycle Enthusiasts
Competition Scheduled for the 23rd Postponed to October 11th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Andong City in Gyeongbuk announced on the 18th that the '1st Andong Lakeside Gran Fondo' event, originally scheduled for the 23rd, has been postponed to October 11.
Andong City explained that this was an unavoidable measure to protect the safety of citizens and participants from the nationwide resurgence of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). The event was initially planned to be held on the 23rd with about 1,100 riders from across the country participating.
Hosted by the Andong City Sports Council and organized by the Korea Cycling Federation and Andong City Cycling Federation, this event is the first grand festival for cycling enthusiasts held in Andong. 'Gran Fondo' is an Italian term meaning 'to travel a long distance,' and it is held as a cycling marathon event in Europe and various countries.

A city official stated, "As COVID-19 rapidly spread mainly in the metropolitan area during the holiday period, and since cyclists from all over the country participate, we decided to postpone this event."
