[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A man detained at the Gangnam Police Station detention center in Seoul tested positive for COVID-19, leading to the closure of the detention center.
According to the police on the 18th, Mr. A (63), who was detained at the Gangnam Police Station detention center, tested positive for COVID-19 that morning. Mr. A participated in a rally at Gwanghwamun on the 15th of this month and was arrested by fellow participants and the police. He was admitted to the Gangnam detention center at around 1:20 a.m. on the 16th. The fellow participant tested negative.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A was subject to self-quarantine, and he underwent a COVID-19 test on the afternoon of the 16th. The police released Mr. A at around 2:20 p.m. the previous day.

A police official stated, "Apart from Mr. B, no other detainees had contact with Mr. A," adding, "We have implemented quarantine measures including the closure of the detention center, and 15 staff members have been tested for COVID-19 and are awaiting results while in isolation."
