Daegu Restaurant Fire Kills Female Owner in Her 50s... "Arson Investigation Underway"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] At around 6:55 PM on the 17th, a fire broke out on the first floor restaurant of a four-story commercial building in Seongdang-dong, Dalseo-gu, Daegu.
At that time, a motorcycle driver passing near the building witnessed the fire and reported it, prompting the fire rescue team to rush to the scene. The female owner, A (54), who was found collapsed at the entrance inside the restaurant, was transported to the hospital but was pronounced dead.
The fire burned approximately 40㎡ inside the restaurant and its fixtures, causing an estimated damage of about 3.7 million KRW (according to the fire station) and was extinguished within 13 minutes. Although it was a four-story building, most of the floors were unoccupied, and only one person was confirmed to have evacuated during the fire.
A police official stated, "We need to investigate whether arson was involved through forensic examination," and added, "An autopsy on the deceased A will also be conducted."
