Gyeonggi-do Provides Information on Medical Institutions' Websites Regarding Collective Strike
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is providing information on medical institutions available for treatment through the provincial website (www.gg.go.kr) following the Korea Medical Association's declaration of a collective strike on the 14th in protest against government health care issues such as the increase in medical school quotas.
Gyeonggi Province announced that it will guide medical institutions that are not participating in the strike or are available for treatment through the provincial website to ensure that residents do not experience difficulties in accessing hospitals during the strike.
Information on medical institutions can be checked on a separate notice window on the provincial website. It is also available through the National Emergency Medical Portal (www.e-gen.or.kr).
In addition, the province added that guidance is provided through the Ministry of Health and Welfare call center 129, the 119 Emergency Situation Management Center, the National Health Insurance Service (1577-1000), the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service call center (1644-2000), and the emergency medical information smartphone application.
Since the 12th, the province has established and operated an emergency medical response situation room to minimize medical service gaps. Through this, it is continuously monitoring the working status of public health centers by city and county, as well as the operation status of emergency medical institutions during the strike period.
Additionally, the province requested 352 hospital-level or higher medical institutions within the province to extend weekday treatment hours and provide weekend and holiday treatment. The province reports that all these institutions are operating normally.
The province is also establishing an emergency medical system to enable 24-hour emergency patient treatment at 91 emergency medical institutions, emergency medical facilities, and general hospital emergency rooms.
In particular, six hospitals under the Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center in Suwon, Uijeongbu, Paju, Icheon, Anseong, and Pocheon, as well as Seongnam City Medical Center, will provide outpatient treatment and 24-hour emergency room services even during the medical staff collective strike period.
