View original image[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] On the 13th, shortly after news broke that the Blue House had rejected his resignation, Presidential Chief of Staff Noh Young-min posted a message on his Facebook regarding South Korea's national credit rating. This message drew attention as it came at a time when five senior secretaries were replaced following the Blue House multi-home ownership scandal, yet Noh, the top official among the aides, remained in his position.
On that day, Chief of Staff Noh stated on Facebook, "Despite the global economic shock, the worst since the Great Depression, our country's national credit rating remains steadfast and unchanged."
He emphasized, "Due to the global economic downturn caused by COVID-19, the three major credit rating agencies (Moody's, S&P, Fitch) have downgraded the national credit ratings and outlooks 183 times across 100 countries, the highest ever. However, our country has firmly maintained its current level."
