Kim Geun-sik: "Kim Jo-won's Exit, a Prelude to Moon's Lame Duck... Blue House Not Standing Firm"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Professor Kim Geun-sik of Gyeongnam National University, chairman of the Seoul Songpa-byeong party committee of the United Future Party, analyzed former Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs Kim Jo-won’s departure from the Blue House without any farewell on the 11th as "beyond insubordination, a precursor to lame duck syndrome."
On the 11th, Professor Kim said on Facebook, "Seeing Kim’s spiteful ending, it really seems that the president’s authority is not properly established in the Blue House."
He pointed out, "After submitting his resignation, he did not even attend the security briefing meeting, withdrew from the aides’ group chat, and ultimately disappeared without a word of comment at the announcement of the senior secretary replacement, which is close to a disorderly scene typical of the lame duck period beyond insubordination."
Professor Kim said, "The public order secretary’s open directive to sell multiple homes owned by Blue House officials ultimately became the root of the problem, but the fact that such an order was not fully enforced is itself evidence that the president’s authority is not firmly established in the Blue House. During the Roh Moo-hyun administration in 2005, when the Blue House staff collectively submitted their resignations, the chiefs and senior secretaries submitted their resignations at a security briefing meeting attended by the president, and the president immediately accepted only two senior secretaries’ resignations to conclude the matter," he explained.

He added, "Unlike this time, where the president remained silent for more than three days, causing confusion among the aides, Kim’s spiteful exit seems to reflect the abnormal atmosphere in the Blue House and an early lame duck syndrome where the president’s authority is not firmly established, which is unsettling," he criticized.
