Guri-si, Intensive Crackdown on Illegal Garbage Dumping
[Asia Economy (Guri) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Guri City in Gyeonggi Province will conduct intensive crackdowns on illegal dumping of garbage until November 30 to create a clean and pleasant living environment.
Earlier, Guri City utilized 10 "Clean Disposal Monitors" and 15 mobile CCTV units for enforcement to crack down on illegal dumping and violations of disposal standards, as well as to promote public awareness among residents.
However, due to frequent cases of non-compliance with the volume-based waste fee system, a nighttime enforcement team composed of participants in the Hope Job Project and public officials has been formed to carry out large-scale crackdowns.
The targets of enforcement include ▲ disposal without using designated volume-based waste bags ▲ mixing food waste and recyclables ▲ violations of designated disposal times ▲ illegal burning of garbage. Violators will be fined up to 1 million won according to the Waste Management Act.
