Namwon Volunteer Center, COVID-19 Overcoming 'DIY Challenge'
Making Hand Sanitizer and Cotton Masks Until the 29th of Next Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] The Volunteer Center of Namwon City, Jeonbuk, is conducting a DIY challenge to overcome the COVID-19 crisis in the region and foster a sense of community.
On the 4th, the Volunteer Center announced that from next month until the 29th, it will hold education and challenge activities titled ‘DIY Challenge - Making Hand Sanitizer and Cloth Masks’ for local residents every Tuesday and Saturday (except Liberation Day) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., totaling 16 sessions.
This campaign is promoted to learn how to make hand sanitizer and cloth masks for COVID-19 prevention and to share this knowledge with neighbors through the challenge process, thereby encouraging sharing through learning and activating customized volunteering through talent donation.
Additionally, it is expected to allow busy workers and students on weekdays to participate with their whole family on weekends and to somewhat alleviate the demand for student volunteer activities, which have been reduced due to COVID-19.
Ryu Heungseong, Director of Administrative Support, said, “We deeply appreciate the participants who have expressed active willingness to join,” adding, “Through this challenge activity, we hope it will be a good opportunity to reduce the use of disposable products and to look around, serving as a good chance to lead disaster recovery and a sense of community within the region.”
Yang Kyungnim, Center Director, stated, “I am confident that the passion and efforts of the volunteers participating in this DIY challenge will be a great strength in protecting myself, my family, and neighbors from COVID-19,” and added, “I hope everyone will join forces and do their best to overcome the disaster.”
