Part-time Jobs Available Without a License... GS Retail Launches 'Udeal' Delivery Platform
Pilot Operation Starts from Convenience Store GS25
Delivery Fee 2,800~3,200 KRW per Order
Limited to Products Under 5kg Within 1.5km Radius
Expanded Application to All GS25 Stores and Some GS The Fresh Locations
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] A neighborhood convenience store-based delivery platform that allows anyone aged 18 and over to make deliveries has been developed.
GS Retail announced on the 3rd that it will pilot 'Our Neighborhood Delivery' (hereinafter referred to as Udil), a business where ordinary people deliver products ordered by customers from the convenience store GS25.
Udil's goal is 'Our Neighborhood Good Eco-friendly Delivery.' It is a convenience store delivery platform business where anyone aged 18 and over, including the silver generation, housewives, and office workers on their way home, can participate as neighborhood delivery workers without any time or frequency restrictions. The concept is delivery on foot, so participation is possible without transportation devices such as motorcycles or related licenses.
The way to use Udil is as follows. When a customer completes an order for GS25 delivery products through the Yogiyo mobile app, ordinary delivery persons called Uchin (Our Neighborhood Delivery Friends) pick up the order call through the Udil mobile app and complete the delivery on foot to the customer. The delivery radius is limited to within 1.5 km from the GS25 store where the ordered product is picked up, considering delivery on foot. The weight of the delivery is also limited to items weighing 5 kg or less.
Uchin receive between 2,800 and 3,200 KRW per delivery from GS Retail. To participate as an Uchin, one must download and register on the Udil app via the Google Play Store starting from the 17th of this month.
The Udil service will be test-operated from the 3rd at three GS25 stores located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and from the 17th, when the Udil app becomes available for download, the service will expand to all GS25 stores throughout Seoul. The full-scale recruitment of Uchin delivery persons will also begin at that time. From the end of this month, the service area will expand nationwide to GS25 stores and some GS The Fresh (formerly GS Supermarket) locations.
GS Retail plans to realize Q-commerce (a business that delivers ordered products immediately) using its nationwide offline platform of about 15,000 stores through the launch of the Udil business in the new normal era caused by COVID-19, and to reduce operating costs for franchise owners by utilizing its own infrastructure for delivery business, thereby expanding mutual growth support.
