The Rottweiler owner, Mr. A, said in an interview with SBS 'News 8' on the 30th, "I sent the dog to a training facility," expressing this position.
Mr. A admitted, "To be honest, I couldn't put a muzzle on the dog," adding, "When I go out at night and no one is around, I let it be comfortable and do so when it's not visible."
According to reports, the Rottweiler had previously attacked and killed another dog three years ago. The victim dog's owner’s daughter, Ms. B, explained the situation to the media, saying, "The dog ran straight out of that house, pushed my mother, and immediately bit our dog," adding, "It died instantly from excessive bleeding."
Earlier, on the 25th, in an alley in Bulgwang-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, the Rottweiler attacked a small Spitz dog during a walk. The Spitz owner was also injured and received treatment at a hospital.
In relation to this, on the 29th, a petition demanding strict punishment for 'failure to wear a muzzle' was posted.
On that day, a post titled "Please prohibit the owner responsible for the Rottweiler dog bite death incident from keeping dogs" was uploaded on the Blue House National Petition Board.
The petitioner, who introduced themselves as a witness to the accident, stated, "The perpetrator has been letting the large dangerous Rottweiler roam in residential areas without a muzzle or even a leash for a long time," adding, "This is already the fifth accident with the same pattern."
The petitioner urged, "Is it reasonable that no punishment can be imposed on this owner while such a deadly dog lives in front of the house? Please enforce strong regulations even for large dangerous dogs. People who want to raise dangerous dogs must be issued a license without exception, and if a dangerous dog is walked without a muzzle, a fine of over 10 million won should be imposed."
As of 2:20 PM on the 31st, the petition had gained 45,244 supporters.
