"From Karaoke to Hospital Schedule Alerts" SKT Launches Senior-Focused AI Service
[Asia Economy Reporter Joselgina] SK Telecom announced on the 30th that it has launched ‘NUGU opal,’ a service supporting a healthy and enjoyable life for senior customers in the 5G era.
NUGU opal is a paid service that bundles specialized services necessary for senior customers’ daily lives, including ▲Medication Reminder ▲Schedule Reminder ▲Life Reminder ▲Brain Gymnastics ▲Health Doctor ▲Usage Statistics ▲Geumyoung Karaoke. It can be used through NUGU devices such as NUGU, NUGU Candle, NUGU Mini, and Btv AI Set-top Box.
SK Telecom prepared this service to help digitally marginalized senior customers use artificial intelligence more easily through voice UX and thereby improve their quality of life.
Senior customers can prevent dementia and obtain useful health information through services like Brain Gymnastics and Health Doctor, and can double-check easily forgotten schedules such as medication or hospital visits through reminder services. There are also functions for senior customers’ safety, such as sending SOS alerts with simple commands like ‘Aria salryeojwo’ (Aria, help me) in emergency situations.
NUGU opal is provided at 5,500 KRW per month (including VAT), and the first three months are free after subscription. Customers who wish to use the service can purchase a usage pass from the NUGU app regardless of their mobile carrier. SK Telecom customers can also subscribe as an additional service through Tworld offline stores or the Tworld website and app.
Meanwhile, to mark the launch, SK Telecom selected trot singer Song Ga-in as the model for NUGU opal and produced an advertisement video humorously showcasing various specialized features. The video can be viewed from August 3 on SK Telecom’s official YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/TworldTV).
