GIST-LG Electronics AI MOU... 'Dreaming AI' Competition Held
[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) and LG Electronics are strengthening their AI industry-academia cooperation.
The GIST AI Research Center and LG Electronics AI Research Center signed a mutual business agreement for industry-academia cooperation and research and development on the 30th at LG Electronics R&D Campus.
Through this agreement, both parties will ▲ jointly cooperate on the project to establish an AI-centered industrial convergence cluster in Gwangju Metropolitan City ▲ jointly participate in the AI-based startup support field 'Dreaming Child (AI) Competition' ▲ promote the use of LG Electronics AI platform to startups within the cluster.
The Dreaming Child Competition is a demonstration-based contest where AI technologies in three specialized AI fields?healthcare, automotive, and energy?compete. With a total prize of 234 million KRW, it is expected to become the largest AI competition in Korea. Final winners of the tournament by category will receive prize money along with a certificate from LG Electronics.
Jumin Kim, head of LG Electronics AI Research Center, said, "Through this agreement, we will share the ThinQ platform, which contains LG Electronics' accumulated AI technology know-how, with prospective entrepreneurs in the Gwangju AI cluster, and at the same time, work together to create new customer value using AI in various fields."

Jongwon Kim, head of GIST AI Research Center, said, "This agreement is expected to play a positive role in the startup sector of the Gwangju AI cluster establishment project."
