On the night of the 31st (Korean time), the LPGA Tour Drive On Championship (total prize money $1 million) kicks off at Inverness Golf Club (par 71, 6,550 yards) in Toledo, Ohio, USA. This is the first event held in five months since the suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic right after the Australian Women's Open in February. It is unfortunate that six of the top 10 players, including world No. 1 Jin Young Ko (25), did not participate due to concerns over COVID-19.
Hee Young Park is the player who caused a sensation by winning the KLPGA Tour Hite Cup as a high school student in 2004. The following year, she turned professional and claimed the Rookie of the Year title, led by her victory at the PAV Invitational. After recording her second win in 2006, she moved to the United States in 2008 and continued her career steadily with wins such as the CME Group Titleholders in November 2011 and the Manulife Financial Classic in 2013.
However, after her second LPGA Tour win, she fell into a severe slump. Last year, she failed to enter the top 10 even once in 16 tournaments, dropping to 110th in the money rankings. Fortunately, she secured her 2020 season card by finishing second in the Qualifying Tournament (QT) series in November. In February, at the third event of the 2020 season, the ISPS Handa Vic Open, she claimed her third career win after 6 years and 7 months, marking a brilliant comeback.
Her average putts per hole were an impressive 1.76, showcasing her 'stingy putting.' She ranks second in Player of the Year, fourth in the CME Globe Race, and fifth in the money rankings this year. Hee Young Park was frustrated by the season suspension due to COVID-19 and eagerly awaited the tour's resumption while balancing rest and training. In Korea, Hee Young Yang (31, Woori Financial Group), In Gee Chun (26, KB Financial Group), and Ji Eun Shin (28, Hanwha Q CELLS) have joined the competition for victory. Jin Young Ko, Hyo Joo Kim (25, Lotte), and In Bee Park (32, KB Financial Group) will compete on the domestic stage.

World No. 2 Nelly Korda (USA) is a player to watch. Since her debut in 2017, she has won three times in total, including two wins last year. This year, she placed 10th at the Diamond Resorts Tournament, tied for 28th at Gainbridge, and tied for 41st at the Australian Women's Open. World No. 4 Danielle Kang (USA), No. 8 Minjee Lee (Australia), and No. 9 Lexi Thompson (USA) are all looking for their first win. The two-time winners, 'Diamond Resorts Champ' Gaby Lopez (Mexico) and 'Gainbridge Champ' Madelene Sagstrom (Sweden), are also challenging for their second victories.
