The Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) held a subcommittee meeting on the afternoon of the 29th and decided to issue a legal sanction of 'warning' to SBS's 'Convenience Store Saetbyeol.' A 'warning' is a severe penalty that affects the broadcaster's license renewal review.
The KCSC explained the reason for the legal sanction decision, stating, "In the process of producing an adult webtoon into a drama rated '15 and older,' the production team showed a lack of gender sensitivity to the extent that it caused discomfort and disgust among viewers."
The drama 'Convenience Store Saetbyeol,' adapted from an adult webtoon, had raised concerns even before its broadcast. Although the production team explained it as "a family drama far from the original work," from the first episode, scenes such as a kiss between a high school girl and an adult man, youth smoking, officetel prostitution, and explicit lines and moans from the adult webtoon author were broadcast.
