Pukyong National University Decides to Award 'COVID-19 Special Scholarship'
10% of Tuition Paid for 1st Semester in Cash... Scheduled for Payment in October
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Pukyong National University will provide an ‘Emergency Disaster Scholarship’ that returns 10% of tuition fees to students. The refund amount is based on the actual tuition paid, with no upper limit.
On the 29th, Pukyong National University announced that it will provide 10% of the actual tuition paid in the first semester as a ‘COVID-19 Special Scholarship’ to support enrolled students in overcoming COVID-19 and their studies.
Through three recent meetings between the university headquarters and the student council, Pukyong National University prepared a plan for the COVID-19 Special Scholarship payment, which was reviewed and approved at the 3rd Student Scholarship Guidance Committee meeting, finalizing the scope of scholarship recipients, payment amounts, and payment timing.
Accordingly, Pukyong National University will provide the COVID-19 Special Scholarship to approximately 8,400 students who paid tuition for the first semester this year. Reflecting the student council’s opinions, the recipients include not only students enrolled as of the start date of the second semester but also those who graduated or took a leave of absence after completing the first semester, as well as students with deferred graduation.
Students are expected to receive 10% of the tuition they paid in the first semester in cash without any upper limit in October.
Pukyong National University estimates that about 1.4 billion KRW will be required for this COVID-19 Special Scholarship and plans to secure funds for the scholarship by tightening the budget, including reducing budgets for various projects canceled due to COVID-19.
Kim Young-seop, president of Pukyong National University, said, “I hope this will be of some help to students who are struggling due to the spread of COVID-19,” and added, “We will work together with students to overcome difficulties by protecting their safety and expanding blended classes to improve the quality of education.”
