Park Soo-young: "Democratic Party Will Lose the War Even If They Win the Battle... Denying the Purpose of Parliament"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Park Soo-young, a member of the Future United Party, described the ruling party's unilateral bill submission and processing as "a complete denial of the existence of the National Assembly," and predicted that "even if they win the battle, they will lose the war."
On the 29th, Park said on Facebook, "It seems the ruling Democratic Party was desperate due to a sharp drop in approval ratings."
He pointed out, "The standing committee, which was originally supposed to receive departmental work reports, suddenly submitted a series of real estate-related bills all at once, passing laws to raise real estate-related taxes such as acquisition tax, comprehensive real estate holding tax, and capital gains tax in less than half a day," adding, "They have reduced the National Assembly from a body that checks the executive branch to a rubber stamp."
Park said, "Historically, parliaments were created to prevent unjust tax increases by kings," and "Today, in the Republic of Korea, that purpose has been completely denied."
