Tourist Trains Including Seohae Geumbit Train 'Run Again'
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Domestic tourist trains, which had been halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will resume operation starting from the 1st of next month.
According to Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) on the 28th, the tourist trains resuming service include the ▲Yongsan Station to Iksan Station "Seohae Geumbit Train," ▲Seoul Station to Yeosu Expo Station and Busan Station to Boseong Station "Namdo Marine Train," ▲Cheongnyangni Station to Auraji Station "Jeongseon Arirang Train," and ▲Yeongju Station to Cheoram Station "Baekdudaegan Gorge Train," which are part of the tourist belt trains, sea trains, and Gyeongbuk tourism theme trains.
However, considering that social distancing measures are still in place, KORAIL explained that the trains will primarily operate for individual travelers rather than group tourists, and ticket reservations (based on seats) will be limited to within 60% of the maximum capacity.
Additionally, when issuing tickets, window seats will be prioritized to enable passengers to sit in a single row.
KORAIL will also hold a special discount event throughout next month in conjunction with the resumption of tourist train operations. The event applies to tourist belt trains except for the Baekdudaegan Gorge Train, with a discount rate expected to be 35% off the regular price, similar to the Mugunghwa train level.
