"Ruling Party Bills Submitted One After Another"... Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee United Future Party Members 'Protest'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 28th, at the full meeting of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee held at the National Assembly, members of the United Future Party raised their voices in protest, claiming that only bills proposed by ruling party members were unilaterally scheduled.
United Future Party lawmaker Kim Eun-hye criticized at the full meeting of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, saying, "Are only the ruling party members' bills correct answers and the opposition members' bills wrong answers?" and "There are similar bills proposed by opposition members, but only the ruling party members' bills were scheduled."
At the meeting, the following bills were scheduled: ▲ Partial Amendment to the Special Act on Public Housing (led by Representative Park Sang-hyuk) ▲ Partial Amendment to the Special Act on Private Rental Housing (led by Representative Park Hong-geun) ▲ Partial Amendment to the Act on Reporting of Real Estate Transactions, etc. (led by Representative Park Sang-hyuk) ▲ Partial Amendment to the Act on Recovery of Excessive Profits from Reconstruction (led by Representative Kang Jun-hyun) ▲ Partial Amendment to the Housing Act (led by Representative Yoon Kwan-seok) ▲ Partial Amendment to the Housing Act (led by Representative Lee Won-wook).
Lee Heon-seung, United Future Party Land Committee secretary, also said, "Today's agenda was unilaterally created without prior agreement or consultation with me," adding, "After the appointment of the secretaries, there should have been discussions with the Democratic Party secretary about which bills to submit, but there was no consultation on which bills to submit."
He said, "Representative Park Sang-hyuk submitted the Special Act on Public Housing on June 30, but Representatives Park Jin and Lee Ju-hwan also submitted similar bills, and the same applies to other bills. If the bills are the same, the principle is to submit them together regardless of party affiliation and conduct a joint review."
In response, Democratic Party secretary Cho Eung-cheon said, "Because discussions on what bills to schedule could not progress and the subcommittee and schedule were continuously delayed, it was impossible," adding, "These bills were submitted because if the measures from June 17, July 10, and the December 16 measures last year are not supplemented by legislation, they will have no effect, so they must be urgently processed."
