Overcoming COVID-19... Expansion of Export 'Online Exhibition Halls'
Ministry of SMEs and Startups
Over 400 Companies and More Than 600 Products
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 26th that it will expand the existing online exhibition hall to support exports of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) facing difficulties in overseas expansion due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
This online exhibition hall is a platform operated by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups since last year for SMEs that cannot directly participate in overseas exhibitions due to time and cost difficulties. Currently, about 400 products from 200 companies are exhibited by theme.
The expansion is based on last year's achievements and aims to expand non-face-to-face export support. From the 27th, the number of exhibited products will be expanded to over 600 products from more than 400 companies. Both the scale and quality of the exhibition hall will be improved, including support for producing product content reflecting the latest technologies and trends.
The exhibited products are selected and categorized into consumer goods such as healthcare, beauty, and food, which have high overseas demand, and industrial goods such as IT, building materials, and automobile parts. They will be operated in the form of themed special halls according to the characteristics of the items.
For exhibited products, linked support includes overseas consumer experience marketing promotion, online showcases using influencers, exhibitions at local overseas consultation venues, and operation of digital market development teams connecting online video consultations.
In particular, the online exhibition hall is jointly operated by utilizing the platforms and capabilities of SME export support organizations. Synergistic effects are expected through the use of overseas buyer databases held by each organization and buyer-customized demand matching.
