According to Keimyung University on the 26th, Daegu Dongsan Hospital of Dongsan Medical Center announced a public recruitment notice in January to hire three regular employees, including general administrative staff, clinical pathologists, and radiologists. At that time, A, the head of the secretarial team at the university headquarters, requested B, the administrative director of Daegu Dongsan Hospital, to approve the acceptance of a specific applicant who applied for the administrative position, citing it as an "order from the president."
The applicant in question was an engineering graduate, which did not match the administrative position that mainly recruited graduates from humanities departments, and was the son of an employee at Gyeongju Dongsan Hospital, an affiliated hospital of Daegu Dongsan Hospital. B, who received the personnel request from the head of the secretarial team, instructed HR staff to lower the scores of other applicants, thereby placing the specific applicant on the final acceptance list.
Their conspiracy was uncovered during the final approval process of the public recruitment selection, which passes through the director of Daegu Dongsan Hospital, the director of the medical center, and the university president. When President Shin Il-hee was informed by the director of Dongsan Medical Center about the "acceptance of a specific person," he denied it and ordered a fact-finding investigation.
After about two months of investigation, the university foundation’s audit team notified A and B, who were directly involved in the recruitment request, of their dismissal on the 23rd. Additionally, a subordinate who assisted in score manipulation under B’s instructions was given a suspension, considering mitigating circumstances.
Regarding this personnel request, the applicants who were finally accepted in other job categories along with the problematic administrative staff became innocent victims due to the university’s cancellation of the recruitment plan.
