Chonnam National University Hospital Achieves Top Rating for Blood Dialysis Appropriateness Evaluation for the 4th Consecutive Time
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam National University Hospital (Director Lee Samyong) announced on the 23rd that it received the highest grade, Grade 1, for the fourth consecutive time in the adequacy evaluation of hemodialysis.
The Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) conducted the 6th adequacy evaluation of hemodialysis targeting 839 medical institutions nationwide that had patients aged 18 or older undergoing hemodialysis at least twice a week in outpatient settings for six months starting from March 2018.
HIRA implements adequacy evaluations to induce quality improvement in hemodialysis and to provide necessary information for medical use to the public, thereby promoting public health.
This evaluation was conducted with a total of 13 indicators across three categories: structure, process, and outcome, and Jeonnam National University Hospital received high scores in all indicators.
As a result, Jeonnam National University Hospital has continued its streak of the highest grade for the fourth consecutive time, following 2012, 2013, and 2015, and also received an additional payment as an incentive in this evaluation.
Meanwhile, hemodialysis is an artificial purification process that removes waste products from the blood for patients whose kidney function has deteriorated.
