Gominjeong to Taeyeongho: "Abandon North Korean Diplomat Image and Uphold the Dignity of a National Assembly Member"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Ju-hee] On the 23rd, Go Min-jung, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, advised Tae Yong-ho, a member of the United Future Party and former North Korean diplomat, to "maintain the dignity of a 'Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea,' not the language of a 'North Korean diplomat.'"
In a post on her Facebook on the same day, Go referred to Tae's government questioning at the National Assembly plenary session the previous day (22nd), saying, "I cannot help but speak out when someone who has borne the wounds of division only emphasizes colorism and Cold War logic."
Go pointed out, "The declaration of the end of the war is neither a declaration recognizing nuclear possession nor a gift to Chairman Kim Jong-un," adding, "The declaration of the end of the war is a step toward peace for the Republic of Korea and the Korean people, not for North Korea or Chairman Kim Jong-un."
She continued, "It is the journey toward denuclearization that Assemblyman Tae Yong-ho so fervently advocates. The Korean Peninsula must move toward peace, not war," emphasizing her point.
She then reminded him, "I would like to recall the 'Oath of the National Assembly Members' that we took together as first-term lawmakers not long ago," adding, "'I solemnly swear before the people to uphold the Constitution, to strive for the promotion of the people's freedom and welfare and the peaceful reunification of the homeland, and to faithfully perform my duties as a member of the National Assembly according to my conscience, prioritizing national interests.'"

Earlier, Assemblyman Tae had claimed in a question to Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, "(The declaration of the end of the war) will be a declaration recognizing North Korea as a nuclear-armed state," and argued, "Since there is no intention to dismantle North Korea's nuclear weapons, presenting the 'declaration of the end of the war' as a gift to the Kim Jong-un siblings is tantamount to surrendering to them."
