North Korea's state media, Korean Central News Agency, reported on the 23rd, "Comrade Kim Jong Un provided on-site guidance at the Kwangcheon Chicken Factory under construction," adding, "He toured the construction site and thoroughly understood the progress status of the chicken factory construction."
According to the report, the Kwangcheon Chicken Factory is being built in Kwangcheon-ri, Hwangju County, and is capable of producing thousands of tons of chicken meat and tens of millions of eggs annually.
Chairman Kim expressed "expectation and confidence that the builders will actively engage in the rewarding construction struggle to realize our Party's ideal of delivering more delicious and nutritious meat and eggs to our children and people, and successfully complete the Kwangcheon Chicken Factory," the agency conveyed.
Kim Jong Un's visit to the Kwangcheon Chicken Factory construction site is interpreted as part of his focus on internal unity and livelihood efforts, similar to his visits to the Suncheon Fertilizer Factory construction site on January 7, the groundbreaking ceremony of the Pyongyang General Hospital on March 17, and the hospital construction site visit on the 20th.
Chairman Kim explained the background of the Kwangcheon Chicken Factory construction by stating that since most of North Korea's modern chicken factories were built nearly 20 years ago and are outdated, "the Party has decided to directly undertake the construction of a model standard factory that can serve as an example in modernizing chicken factories nationwide."
This suggests an intention to remodel chicken factories across the country after establishing the Kwangcheon Chicken Factory as a model for the Kim Jong Un era.
Kim Jong Un said, "This chicken factory construction is a project that our Party has long envisioned and prepared with great effort," adding, "The Party has high expectations that it will substantially contribute to solving the people's dietary issues, which the Party cares deeply about."
He emphasized, "The Kwangcheon Chicken Factory, built as a model in the poultry sector, must have standardized facilities and buildings," and instructed that since the Party plans to send the most advanced poultry equipment with superior modernization, automation, and intensification levels, the remaining construction should proceed at the highest standards.
Chairman Kim also stressed the need to carry out agricultural support projects for farms supplying feed to the Kwangcheon Chicken Factory and to train scientists and technicians in the livestock sector for the operation of the chicken factory.
Accompanying him on the on-site guidance were General Chief of the General Staff Pak Jong Chon, Director of the General Political Bureau Kim Su Gil, First Deputy Directors of the Party Kim Yo Jong and Jo Yong Won, Deputy Director of the Party Propaganda and Agitation Department Hyon Song Wol, and Director of the State Affairs Commission Design Bureau Ma Won Chun.
