Gyeonggi Institute of Economy and Science Launches Security Consulting Support Project for SMEs
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency is recruiting about 30 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Gyeonggi-do on a first-come, first-served basis to participate in the 'SME Security Consulting Support Project' to support information security for SMEs in security blind spots.
The SME Security Consulting Support Project is a program in which the Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency collaborates with the Korea Internet & Security Agency and the Korea Financial Information Service to conduct security consulting for SMEs in the province and link security solutions held by each institution based on the results.
The Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency is responsible for recruiting and selecting supported companies and linking security solutions. The Korea Internet & Security Agency and the Korea Financial Information Service provide security diagnosis, consulting, and security solutions for SMEs.
Any SME located in the province can apply, and applications can be submitted online through the EGBiz website (www.egbiz.or.kr). Recruitment is on a first-come, first-served basis for about 30 companies until the budget is exhausted.
Kim Ki-jun, head of the Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency, emphasized, "Although SMEs account for 99% of domestic companies, their level of information protection is very insufficient due to lack of budget and professional personnel," adding, "We will do our best to help strengthen the security capabilities of Gyeonggi-do SMEs through cooperation with various specialized institutions."

To revitalize information protection and the security industry in the Gyeonggi region, the Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency signed a mutual cooperation agreement with the Korea Internet & Security Agency on the 3rd of this month, following the Korea Financial Information Service in December last year.
