Feed fishmeal refers to products produced by processing by-products discharged during fish processing through pressing, drying, and grinding, which serve as raw materials for mixed feed for livestock and aquaculture fish.
The agreement ceremony held at the Sheraton Seoul Palace Gangnam Hotel in Seocho-gu, Seoul, was attended by the Korea Compound Feed Association representing small and medium enterprises producing feed fishmeal, and the Korea Food Industry Association representing three large companies?Dongwon F&B, Ottogi SF, and Sajo Industries?that supply raw materials.
The agreement includes provisions for the three large companies (Dongwon F&B, Ottogi SF, Sajo Industries) to continuously supply tuna by-products, which are raw materials for feed fishmeal, to small and medium enterprises to resolve the raw material supply issue that relies on imports.
The three large companies agreed to restrain the expansion of the feed fishmeal-related industry and to strive for cooperation with small and medium enterprises, while the small and medium enterprise organizations pledged to work on enhancing the self-sustainability of small and medium enterprises.
The Win-Win Growth Committee participated as a coordinator to form and operate a win-win council for the agreement and to verify the implementation of the agreement, ensuring the maintenance of a continuous cooperative relationship.
Kwon Ki-hong, Chairman of the Win-Win Growth Committee, said, “Feed fishmeal is difficult to import from abroad, so it is necessary to expand the domestic supply chain. I hope this agreement becomes a model case of win-win growth overcoming the difficulties caused by COVID-19.”
Lee Sang-gil, Chairman of the Compound Feed Association, said, “I hope that the Korea Compound Feed Association and the Korea Food Industry Association, through this agreement ceremony, will protect small and micro enterprises producing feed fishmeal in Korea and create opportunities for mutual development.”
