[National Tax Statistics 1st Release] Namdaemun Tax Office Tops Tax Revenue for 3 Consecutive Years... Yeongdeok Last Place
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] The National Tax Service (NTS) disclosed 95 national tax statistics items early on the 17th, ahead of the publication of the National Tax Statistical Yearbook scheduled for December this year.
The NTS publishes the National Tax Statistical Yearbook every December to help the public understand national tax administration and to support tax policy formulation and research. To enable earlier access to tax statistics information, the NTS produces and releases statistics early during the year. This year, early disclosure will be conducted twice.
The 94 items disclosed in the first early release represent an increase of 11 items compared to last year's 84, accounting for 18.6% of the total national tax statistics tables (510 in 2019).
Among 125 tax offices nationwide, Namdaemun Tax Office ranked first in tax revenue for the third consecutive year.
Looking at last year's tax revenue by tax office nationwide, Namdaemun Tax Office recorded 13.7206 trillion won. Namdaemun Tax Office hosts the headquarters of many large corporations, including those in the financial industry.
The second place was tied by Dongsuwon Tax Office (11.3758 trillion won), and the third place was Suyeong Tax Office (10.6322 trillion won). Over 90% of Dongsuwon Tax Office's tax revenue comes from corporate tax, while Suyeong Tax Office has a high proportion of securities transaction tax and corporate tax (withholding).
On the other hand, the tax office with the lowest tax revenue last year was Yeongdeok Tax Office (92.7 billion won), which has not escaped the last place for three consecutive years.
Following were Boryeong Tax Office (105.3 billion won) and Haenam Tax Office (107.8 billion won) in order.
The early disclosed national tax statistics tables are available on the National Tax Statistics website, the NTS website, and the National Statistical Portal.
