The legal deadline for the HCIC launch is the 15th.
On the morning of the 13th, at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, Floor Leader Kim said, "The deadline for the HCIC launch is approaching. We will proceed with the HCIC launch according to the law and procedures," adding, "We will announce the Democratic Party's nominee for the HCIC chief recommendation committee today."
He expressed frustration, saying, "It is frustrating that the opposition party's dereliction of duty is causing difficulties even in forming the recommendation committee," and emphasized, "The HCIC is an institution that investigates misconduct and corruption of those holding the highest power in our society, including the president and their relatives, members of the National Assembly, high-ranking officials, judges and prosecutors, as well as officials from the National Intelligence Service and police officers. The mere establishment of the HCIC will have a significant preventive effect on misconduct by high-ranking officials."
He continued, "Nevertheless, I cannot understand why the United Future Party only opposes this," and urged, "What exactly are they afraid of? I hope the United Future Party will also abide by the law and cooperate with the HCIC launch procedures."
Regarding the real estate measures announced by the government on the 10th, Floor Leader Kim said, "The Democratic Party last week proposed amendments to real estate tax laws, including comprehensive real estate tax, acquisition tax, and capital gains tax, as well as the three lease laws, to support the government's recent real estate measures," adding, "We have set these bills as the top priority livelihood issues for the July National Assembly session and will ensure their enactment."
