Heavy Rain Across Chungcheong and Southern Regions Nationwide... Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on Level 1 Emergency Duty
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that, anticipating heavy rain in most regions nationwide, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) will enter Level 1 emergency operations starting at 6 p.m. on the 12th.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, heavy rain advisories have been issued or are expected to be issued for parts of Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, and Chungnam. The expected rainfall from the 12th to the 14th is 100?200 mm (with some areas exceeding 300 mm) in the southern, Chungcheong, and Jeolla regions, and 50?100 mm in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Yeongseo regions.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety requested related ministries and local governments to prepare for the operation of drainage pump stations and to strengthen surveillance and inspections in areas at risk of casualties in accordance with the CDSCH activation. In particular, considering the weakened ground due to rain over the past two days, they urged a focus on preventive measures to avoid casualties in low-lying and steep slope areas.
In regions under heavy rain warnings, prior measures such as moving vehicles from riverside parking lots, restricting access to underground roads, and securing safety at construction sites were requested.
