Changwon Mayor, 70.3% of Citizens Positive in 2nd Anniversary Public Opinion Survey of 7th Term Administration
Economic Sector Increases from 4.7% to 5.7% ... 'Environment' Recognized as the Best Performing Sector
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that 70.3% of Changwon citizens responded that the people-centered administrative changes of the 7th local government, which marked its 2nd anniversary, are ‘doing well’.
According to the results of the administrative satisfaction survey conducted by a professional public opinion research agency, 7 out of 10 respondents gave a positive evaluation of the ‘Heo Seong-mu style people-centered administration,’ which is an increase of 11.3 percentage points compared to 2018.
Regarding Mayor Heo’s first half job performance evaluation, 65.9% of citizens gave a positive evaluation of ‘doing well,’ marking a 12.6 percentage point increase in positive citizen evaluation within one and a half years of the 7th local government.
The city analyzed these results as reflecting a growing consensus on Heo Seong-mu style administration that shifts from the existing construction and development-centered approach to a ‘people-centered administrative paradigm’ that cares for citizens’ lives.
In addition, changes in citizen perception are interpreted as reflecting long-standing issues such as ▲ selection as a smart leading industrial complex ▲ designation as a small but strong research and development special zone ▲ normalization of a self-sufficient complex administrative town ▲ designation of the Buma Democratic Uprising as a national memorial day ▲ establishment of a high school in the Buk-myeon new town ▲ conclusion of public debate on the Starfield store entry conflict ▲ increase in KTX trains ▲ withdrawal of the transmission tower in Buk-myeon.
The areas where the city is performing best are environment (22.7%), welfare (19.8%), and urban policy (17.9%), with the environment sector showing the largest increase (5.4 percentage points).
Following that, the economic sector also saw an increase in positive responses from 4.7% to 5.7%, and the future priority areas were economy (52.5%), welfare (14.9%), and environment (11.5%), with the economy ranking highest.
