Sangchul Park, President of Honam University, Holds Meeting with Gwangju Civic and Social Organizations Federation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Park Sang-chul, President of Honam University, held a meeting with the Standing Co-Representatives (representatives of each organization) and Standing Advisors invited by the Gwangju Citizens' Social Organizations Federation (Chairman Oh Ju).
According to Honam University on the 1st, about 30 people attended the meeting, including the advisory group such as Ko Jae-yu, former mayor of Gwangju, and Kim Kyung-chun, former member of the National Assembly, as well as Oh Ju, former chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council, Lee Jeong-jae, president of the Gwangju Holy Club, Yang Hoe-chang, representative of Yuchon Culture Forum, and Kim Yong-bae, chairman of the International Youth Culture Federation.
President Park said, "As a standing advisor of the Gwangju Citizens' Social Organizations Federation, I consider it meaningful to hold a meeting with the representatives of each organization to reaffirm our commitment to the direction of school development and solving regional development issues after COVID-19," adding, "We will make every effort to nurture young talents in the region as core personnel of society in line with the rapidly changing social trends due to the AI era and new industry growth."
Chairman Oh Ju (former chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council) stated, "The Gwangju Citizens' Social Organizations Federation will contribute to strengthening the status and role of civic organizations, devising ways to improve citizens' quality of life, and gathering wisdom to create a 'Returning Gwangju' through initiatives such as artificial intelligence, Gwangju-type jobs, and designation of economic free zones."
The advisors of the Gwangju Citizens' Social Organizations who also attended unanimously expressed, "We pay tribute to President Park Sang-chul's efforts and capabilities in establishing Honam University as a prestigious private university in the Honam region, following the will of the late Lee Hwa-sung, the founder of Honam University, who played a significant role in the establishment and development of the Gwangju Citizens' Social Organizations," and emphasized, "Representatives from various sectors in the region will put their heads together to discuss ideas for social changes after COVID-19 and the development of Gwangju, striving to generate constructive ideas."

Meanwhile, the Gwangju Citizens' Social Organizations Federation, founded in 2004, is a federation composed of 208 NGO organizations in the Gwangju area. On May 13, it held the 17th regular general meeting, elected Oh Ju as chairman, and finalized the 2020 business plan along with the election of executives.
