The closure will be in effect from the 30th until the 4th of next month, covering all 1,203 daycare centers. This measure was taken to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) through daycare centers after it was confirmed that patient #113 operates a daycare center in Daeseong-dong, Dong-gu.
However, the city explained that emergency care services will be provided to families in need during the daycare center closures.
According to the nationwide status of daycare center closures by city and province from the Ministry of Health and Welfare as of the 22nd, only three regions?Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi?have all daycare centers currently closed.
Mayor Heo stated, “There have been cases where confirmation occurs within 3 to 4 days after symptom onset,” and urged, “If symptoms appear, please first consult and get tested at the nearest screening clinic.”
Meanwhile, the city has ordered the closure of the daycare center where a recent confirmed case (school bus operation) was reported until the 13th of next month and will conduct comprehensive testing for 7 staff members and 19 children.
