Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund Applications Surpass 900,000... "Discussion on Rapid Payment Measures"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Ministry of Employment and Labor discussed special measures to shorten the payment period for the Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund.
On the afternoon of the 26th, Minister of Employment and Labor Lee Jae-gap held an 'Emergency Nationwide Agency Heads Video Conference' with six heads of regional employment and labor offices and 48 heads of employment and labor sub-offices nationwide.
The attendees checked the status of application processing and payment for the Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund, as applications exceeded 900,000 since the start on the 1st. Due to the surge in applications causing delays in the payment processing period beyond the original plan, special measures to shorten the payment period were discussed.
Special-type workers, freelancers, small business owners, and unpaid leave workers whose income or sales have decreased due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) can receive 1.5 million won from the Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund.
Minister Lee said, "Those who applied for the Emergency Employment Stability Support Fund are the ones most affected by the difficulties caused by COVID-19," and instructed, "Please devise extraordinary measures for prompt payment."
