'40 Years Since Launch' Renault Master Surpasses 3 Million Units Sold Globally
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Renault Group announced on the 25th that its flagship mid-size commercial vehicle, the 'Renault Master,' has surpassed 3 million units in global cumulative sales 40 years after its launch.
Since the initial model release in 1980, the Renault Master has been consistently sold in the global commercial vehicle market for the past 40 years, recognized for its customized design and quality tailored for drivers. In particular, last year alone, 124,000 units were sold in 50 countries worldwide, setting a record for the highest sales in the European large van market for five consecutive years.
In South Korea, the Master Van was first launched in October 2018, followed by the 13-seat and 15-seat Master Bus models in June 2019. In March, Renault Samsung Motors introduced the New Master Van and Bus with upgraded interior and exterior designs and convenience features. Since its domestic launch, over 4,300 units of the Master have been sold, creating a new trend in the local commercial vehicle market.
A major strength of the Renault Master is its versatility, allowing various modifications according to the driver's vehicle usage purposes. Each model has received positive reviews in the market, including the Master Van, which offers a European-style exterior design and a large, spacious cargo area, and the Master Bus, which provides a tall and wide space for passengers. Both the Master Van and Bus serve as bases for conversions into various uses such as camper vans, school buses for children, and refrigerated or frozen vehicles.
Kim Tae-jun, Head of Sales at Renault Samsung, stated, "The Renault Master is a mid-size commercial vehicle that has been proven over many years in the competitive European commercial vehicle market," adding, "We will lead changes in the domestic commercial vehicle market with the upgraded New Renault Master."
