China's Didi Aims for 1 Million Autonomous Robo-Taxis by 2030
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] Didi Chuxing, China's largest ride-sharing service provider, announced plans to operate 1 million autonomous robotaxis by 2030.
According to Chinese economic media Caixin on the 24th, Meng Xingjin, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Didi Chuxing's autonomous driving division, stated that the company plans to secure and operate 1 million robotaxis for internet ride-hailing services by 2030.
Didi Chuxing plans to pilot robotaxi services for general passengers this year in three cities: Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, and aims to expand the service area to other regions in China starting next year.
