Naju-si to Implement 'Comprehensive Vehicle Inspection' Starting from the 3rd of Next Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 23rd that starting from the 3rd of next month, it will switch from the existing regular vehicle inspections to enhanced comprehensive vehicle inspections in accordance with the Ministry of Environment's designation of air quality management zones.
On April 3rd, the Ministry of Environment newly designated Naju City, along with Mokpo, Suncheon, Gwangyang, and Yeongam, as air quality management zones in Jeollanam-do under the revised "Special Act on Improvement of Air Quality in Air Quality Management Zones" and the "Air Quality Conservation Act."
Accordingly, vehicles registered in the city whose inspection validity expires on or after the 3rd of next month must undergo a comprehensive vehicle inspection that includes a detailed emission test within 31 days before or after the expiration date.
This method adds a detailed load test reflecting actual road driving conditions to the existing regular inspection, checking pollutants generated during real driving.
First-class low-emission vehicles, including electric vehicles, solar-powered vehicles, and hydrogen electric vehicles, are exempt from the comprehensive inspection.
The comprehensive inspection can be conducted at the Korea Transportation Safety Authority inspection centers or designated comprehensive inspection maintenance shops within the jurisdiction.
While the existing regular inspection was mostly available at first-class repair shops, the comprehensive inspection is only possible at designated shops equipped with the necessary facilities, so prior confirmation is recommended.
A fine of 20,000 KRW is imposed if the inspection is delayed within 30 days after the expiration date, and 10,000 KRW every 3 days thereafter, up to a maximum of 300,000 KRW.
Mobile notification services related to the comprehensive inspection can be applied for at the Korea Transportation Safety Authority.
