The Industry with the Highest Year-on-Year Increase in Payment Amount is 'Baedal'

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Comparing consumer payment amounts by retail sector from January to May this year with the same period last year, the sector with the largest increase was found to be 'Delivery'.
App analysis service WiseApp announced on the 23rd the results of this year's 'Increase and Decrease in Consumer Payment Amounts by Retail Sector', including this information.
When sampling the amounts paid by Koreans from January to May using credit cards, debit cards, bank transfers, and mobile micropayments at representative retail sectors, the sector with the highest rate of increase in payment amounts compared to the same period last year was Delivery. The top brands in the delivery sector, 'Baedal Minjok' and 'Yogiyo', saw a total payment amount increase of 82% compared to the same period last year.
The sector with the second highest payment amount growth rate was 'Internet Services'. The top brands in internet services, Google, Netflix, Nexon, and Oneul-ui Jip, showed a 36% increase in total payment amounts compared to the same period last year.
Internet Shopping, represented by Naver, Coupang, eBay Korea, and 11st, recorded a 22% increase in total payment amounts compared to the same period last year. Home Shopping, consisting of GS Home Shopping, Lotte Home Shopping, Home&Shopping, and NS Home Shopping, saw a 4% increase in total payment amounts compared to the same period last year.

The sectors with significant declines were Airlines -64%, Travel -66%, Duty-Free Shops -69%, and Theaters -69%. This survey by WiseApp estimated the amounts paid by Koreans aged 20 and over at the respective retail sectors, based on consumer payment records. Payments made via corporate cards, corporate bank transfers, inter-company transactions, cash transactions, and gift certificates were not included.
