View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] On the 22nd, Yeo Han-gu, Director General of Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, held a 'Korea-Philippines FTA Chief Negotiators Meeting' via video conference with Ceferino Rodolfo, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry of the Philippines.
Director General Yeo and Deputy Secretary Rodolfo reviewed the negotiation status and discussed future negotiation plans and schedules during the meeting.
They agreed that the Korea-Philippines FTA could strengthen trade and industrial cooperation between the two countries and agreed to conclude the negotiations promptly in the future.
Director General Yeo and Deputy Secretary Rodolfo shared a consensus that the bilateral FTA would act as a catalyst to revitalize trade and investment between the two countries, which have been contracted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
They agreed to make flexible efforts regarding market opening in mutually interested areas to find common ground for concluding the negotiations.

Both sides have held sectoral video conferences to reach substantial agreements on remaining issues in the agreement text. Regarding tariff concessions, they have been promoting discussions on comprehensive market opening.
