4.8 Billion KRW Scholarship Support for Low-Income Seoul High School Students Excelling in Arts and Physical Education
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Seoul Scholarship Foundation, established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, announced on the 19th that it will select recipients for the "Seoul Hope Arts and Physical Education Scholarship" to nurture outstanding talents among high school students from low-income families who have talent and aptitude in the arts and physical education fields. A total of 160 students will be selected to receive scholarships totaling 480 million KRW, with up to 3 million KRW per year each.
The scholarship applicants must be students enrolled in high schools located in Seoul who have talent in music, fine arts, physical education, or dance, and whose household income is at or below 90% of the median income or who are economically vulnerable as recommended by their school principal. A foundation official explained that the number of recipients was increased by 60% compared to last year to allow low-income students with special talents in arts and physical education to demonstrate their abilities without financial concerns.
Applications for the scholarship can be submitted online through the Seoul Scholarship Foundation website (www.hissf.or.kr) by scholarship coordinators at Seoul high schools via school principal recommendations. The application period is from the 22nd of this month to the 3rd of next month.
